Easy Overlay Underfloor in Cheadle

Brief

One of our regular clients, Belverdale Building Contractors Ltd based in Cheshire, enlisted us to work on an extension on a property in Cheadle. Our underfloor heating team in Manchester were tasked with completing this job to their satisfaction.

Key Considerations

The project consisted of an uneven existing floor and an extension area. The subfloor had to be levelled out with liquid screed before underfloor heating pipes could be laid. That said, ceiling height was a concern, and we had to keep the additional floor height as minimal as possible.

What We Achieved

After levelling out the existing concrete floor using a high-performance self-levelling liquid screed, we installed 25mm solid floor overlay panels. These are low-profile boards  which are pre-routed to accept the underfloor heating pipework and provide an amount of floor insulation.

By using the overlay panels, we kept the floor height to a minimum. These panels can be tiled directly or covered with a thin layer of fibre reinforced self-smoothing compound for other floor coverings.
