Extension to Worcester Hospital

Brief

William Gough Ltd – a leading principal building, refurbishment and framework contract specialist in the West Midlands – hired us to provide our floor screeding service. Self compacting screed was needed for the new discharge lounge extension at Worcester Royal Hospital.

Key Considerations

The site would remain open as a working hospital during our screed pour. This meant several more safety checks had to be taken into consideration. We would have to ensure no patients or staff at the hospital would be disrupted by the screed pour or our pump equipment.

And, typical for our commercial floor screeding jobs, time was of the essence. We needed to pick a screeding solution that would dry in reasonable time for the rest of the construction work to continue as normal.

What We Achieved

Care was taken to visit site before our works commenced in order to carry out a site specific risk assessment, method statement, and traffic management plan. This ensured no accidents or complications occurred during our work.

Our liquid screed Birmingham team were on the scene and offered an ideal self compacting screed for a project of this type. The application they chose is fast drying and is ready for foot traffic within 24–48 hours. Having poured this floor on a Friday afternoon, we made no impact on following trades who were able to get back on the floor on Monday morning.
