Holiday Lodges in Shropshire

Brief

In September 2017 a commercial client contracted our underfloor heating installers to design and install a bespoke underfloor heating system with floor insulation and liquid floor screeding for four holiday lodges in Kinnerley in Shropshire.

Key Considerations

The lodges were being built one at a time over a number of months, meaning that we would be facing different seasons during our time laying and screeding. While the first two lodges would be built while the weather was relatively dry and warm, the last two were projected to have their screeding during winter and spring.

The area where the lodges were being built would be particularly cold and wet at those times of year, creating suboptimal conditions for liquid screed to dry. This could potentially extend the project because liquid floor screeding has to cure and dry to a sufficient degree before it’s strong enough to build on.

What We Achieved

Our underfloor heating installers laid floor insulation, damp membranes, vapour barriers and the floor heating pipes without complication.

We advised the client on how to keep optimal drying conditions through heaters and dehumidifiers. We also offered the services of our liquid screed Shropshire team to provide moisture testing if they required it.
